# Quote wording — Z clearance vs Z travel

CNC router quotes must distinguish **gantry clearance** (e.g. 300mm bottom-of-gantry to table) from **Z travel** (often less, e.g. 270mm, to leave room for spoilboard and tool length). Clients machining tall 3D molds may read “300mm” as travel. Prefer explicit “clearance / travel” on the quotation to avoid post-delivery disputes (Denel Aerospace example).
