How to navigate the 3D viewport in PrintUP (from this page)

  1. This 3D Navigation part is about basic 3D navigation of the viewport in PrintUP.
  2. The live body says there are two 3D viewports: the main one and the Previews one.
  3. Import a sample graphic so there is something to navigate around (the live block uses Downloads after install, then AM.CO.ZA graphics, imported as-is).
  4. First control set: middle mouse button click-and-hold pans; right mouse button hold rotates around the centre of the canvas; mouse wheel zooms in and out.

  6. Second control set (combination; zoom is smoother): Ctrl + left mouse drag pans (the live block first says this only works with nothing selected, then corrects that it can be selected); Alt + left mouse drag forward/back zooms more smoothly than the wheel; left mouse drag rotates.
  7. Catch on the second rotate: if something is selected (especially in the Move tool), a left-click moves the object instead of rotating the view. The live block says there is no undo for that move; reset it. Deselect first, then left-click to rotate. Right-mouse rotate is safer when something is selected.
  8. Pick one method and stick with it. Combining both is more confusing and the live block calls that more for advanced users.
