How to set up the CorelDRAW project (from this page)

  1. This Printing CMYK to CMY with Fake K part is about setting up the CorelDRAW project so it is ready for fake-K / fake-black printing work.
  2. The live block uses CorelDRAW 2018; other versions should be similar. Two methods are covered so one of them may match the viewer's version.
  3. Close the welcome screen, then start a new document (File → New, the New icon, or the New plus control).
  4. Leave most new-document options as they are for the tutorial. Change primary colour mode from the default RGB to CMYK so the project is CMYK-ready. Rendering resolution / DPI can be set for artwork; the live block leaves 72 for the tutorial, then OK.
  5. Open the Object Properties and Object Manager dockers (Window → Dockers; Object Properties shortcut Alt+Enter). Object Properties is the selected-object inspector; Object Manager is the layers-style panel. A plus control on the docker can add the other panel.
