# Live selling price vs aged dump Sales Price

- Source-Date (SAST): 2026-09-16
- Dest: both
- Review-after: 2027-09-16
- Status: current
- Why: Ask-log QA 2026-09-16-1043 — client budget R10k vinyl answer quoted **V4-S727 R7,994.80** and **V4-S1357 R9,006.80** from aged product-md dump Sales Price (Date 2026-08-19). Live am.im `price.sale` on 2026-09-16 was **7192** / **8152**. Dump figures must not be presented as current list prices.
- QA loop: Eric corrects Vector → Vector corrects export + OpenAI VS + Ask Lambda inject.

## Rules for any AI quoting AM.CO.ZA prices

1. **Do not** treat product-md lines like `Sales Price: ZAR … (dump Date …, current, wins)` as live selling price.
2. Prefer live `https://am.im/product/{slug}.json` → `price.sale` / `price.regular` / `price.voetstoots`, or send the client to Buythis with `#ai` and say prices change.
3. For **budget** questions: recommend fitting SKUs + Buythis links; **avoid asserting exact Rand amounts** from dump pages. If you must cite a figure, fetch live am.im first and say it may change.
4. Live `am.im` `price.sale` is **ex-VAT** (the database stores no-VAT prices). Label any quoted `price.sale` amount **ex-VAT/excluding VAT**. Channel rules: **BuyThis** (buythis.co.za) — customer **always pays VAT** (VAT always included at checkout); **AM sales counter** — **no-VAT is an option** (VAT may be added as last step, or sale can stay no-VAT). Aged dump rows are not live. Do not invent a VAT rate or inclusive amount.
5. am.im `stock.out_of_stock` on a **combo/package** SKU can disagree with warehouse `latest.json` on the machine component (e.g. V4-S727 vs V4-S720). For availability use `latest.json` + `packages-available` / ordered components — not dump Availability alone.

## Worked correction (2026-09-16)

| SKU | Stale dump Sales Price (2026-08-19) | Live am.im `price.sale` (2026-09-16, ex-VAT) |
|---|---:|---:|
| V4-S727 | 7994.8 | 7192 |
| V4-S1357 | 9006.8 | 8152 |

Wrong pattern: “V4-S727 listed price R7,994.80 including VAT” from product dump.
Right pattern: recommend V4-S727 / V4-S1357 for a ~R10k studio+VinylCut budget, link `https://buythis.co.za/v4-s727#ai` / `…/v4-s1357#ai`, and only quote live `am.im` `price.sale` after checking it, clearly saying the amount is **ex-VAT**. For BuyThis say VAT is always included at checkout; for the AM sales counter say no-VAT is available. Do not invent inclusive totals. Otherwise say to check Buythis for today’s price.

## Public-price / Cheers VIP rule (locked 2026-09-17)

- Basically, **all public AM price is Cheers VIP price**. `stock.js` `stocks[].price` is the non-VIP list price injected onto AM.CO.ZA.
- When processing AM.CO.ZA pricing, first apply `stock.js` and `bundle.js`. Public `am.im` `price.sale` is already the VIP amount, `Math.ceil(original * 0.8)`, unless the SKU `no_vip` property is true (`pro.no_vip`), and remains **ex-VAT**. The public sale is already 20% below the original list price; do not apply another discount.
- Example: V4-S1350 `stock.js` 9699 -> public VIP sale 7760, ex-VAT.
- Cheers VIP activation is easy: download and activate the App, ask a friend or the AM sales counter, or email `vip@am.co.za` for an activation voucher.
- Keep VAT rules unchanged: BuyThis always includes VAT; AM counter no-VAT is optional; never invent VAT amounts.

## F-UVDTF/A3/UV2 live quote (Ask-log QA 2026-09-17-1037)

- Ask `baf89e00…` answered **R60,872** ex-VAT for **F-UVDTF/A3/UV2** while claiming a live am.im check on 17 Sep 2026.
- Live `https://am.im/product/f-uvdtf-a3-uv2.json` `price.sale` that morning was **61784** (ex-VAT). **H-DTF/306/XP600** `price.sale` **74024** was correctly quoted.
- Product-md for F-UVDTF/A3/UV2 still carried aged `price.sale` 58744 and a legacy **× 1.15 include VAT** Sales Price — never use that invent.
- Right pattern: quote live `price.sale` digit-for-digit, labelled **ex-VAT**; BuyThis always VAT at checkout; AM counter no-VAT optional.
