"Transcript": "Howdy, guys. In today's video, we're gonna be looking at saving our file for a few different formats within uh Affinity. But before that, let's have a quick intro first. So, today's video can be found on softwaretraining.co.za where we make short and easy to watch problem-solving videos. Now, if we head into the actual um video here. So once again, we've looked at converting an image or rec uh vector, sorry, a raster into a vector. And then cleaning it up. So now, what we wanna look at is exporting this. Now, there's a few different file formats which is gonna be important. First of all, I think we kind of covered already in the previous video, and that is just going file and then you save the file or save as. This will be the native format for Affinity. So you'll only be able to open that in this programme, but that is, let's say you wanna carry on editing design, um, you'll be saving in that format. Always like to do that just so we have like a form of base to start off with or I call it my raw file, then we can export from the raw file to more finalised things. So now, From our exporting. So, if I go file, I go export. Then you'll see we've got this little dialogue box with a few different key things. So first of all, we have our sample here in the middle. Then we have our file format here on the left. You can search for ones you're looking for or you can just simply navigate and click. Now, you'll see, for instance, on the JPEG, if you had to click a file format, there's a few different options here. So if you wanted like a medium quality or so forth, cause sometimes, let's say you wanna just send your client a sample of your design, maybe you've made him a logo. Then you'll maybe just go something like a JPEG, medium or high. And then export it, and then send it to the client. Then, on the right here, we have properties. This will be stuff you can set for this JPEG file format. Now, this is gonna change depending on the actual file format you choose here. So, if I got PNG, then I will get different options um as to the JPEG. Now, when it comes to, let's say you um wanna export this for print or something, then PNG can work also something like a TIF. And then also a PDF. Now, PNG oftentimes you'll use if you did not have a background. So let's say, our background is hidden and we wanna keep it like that, then you'll just go file, export, and then you choose something like a PNG and then you can actually save this without a background. Then, obviously, we've got the GIF which is those animated files. It doesn't have to be, but in general, that's what you'll be using for, so it's not something we're worried about here. Now, TIFF files is very commonly used within printing. Cause it can save all the channels and it can save uh spot channels and so forth. So if you wanna add specific colours or white channels and so forth, then you'll be using the actual TIFF files. They're a little bit larger generally, but as you can see here, we've got a nice CMK TIFF as well. Then, let's say you wanna edit this or you wanna sell this online. In general, then what you can do is you can do it as a SVG. So that way, if you export this as an SVG or maybe as a PDF, but mostly SVG, you can open this up in another programme and edit those node points, so they can actually make changes to the logo. So, um, this is a nice native or how can I say standard format that a lot of different programmes understand and is able to read. Then, um, yeah, most of all, that is gonna be our file formats we're gonna be looking at. Like I said, depending on what you're trying to achieve, there's definitely more you can look at, but in general, if it's a sample, maybe a JPEG, printing of the file, and if you wanna edit it, maybe something like a SVG. But yeah, otherwise, that concludes our video on converting rasters to vector. Pretty straightforward. Now, the cleaning up is probably the longest, but once you get used to the process of using these tools and that, you can do it relatively quick with getting great results.
