# RDWorks laser controller how-to videos (AM training / support)

**Product:** **RDWorks control system (Ruida controller)**: the motion controller, keypad and RDWorks PC software used on AM's TruCUT CO2 laser cutting and engraving machines. ### Controller settings: backup, restore and factory reset (tools channel)

What the dump transcripts say:

- **Setting backup and recovery (2024-02-05):** open RDWorks, go to File, Vendor settings and enter the vendor password (the caption reads "Capital RD 8888"). Click **Read** so RDWorks reads the parameters from the motherboard, then **Save** them to a file in a new folder on the PC. Next, do the factory reset on the machine controller. After the reset, Vendor settings, Read shows default values (the clip shows X 380 and Y 300 instead of the machine's real bed size). To put the machine back, click **Open**, pick the saved parameter file ("import parameters success"), then click **Write**. Reading the motherboard again now shows the correct backed-up size and parameters.
- **Recover controller to factory default by password HF8888 (2024-02-05):** on the controller keypad press **Menu**, go to **Set default parameter**, enter the password HF8888 and the screen shows "recover success".

Support note: a factory reset wipes the machine's own bed size and motor settings. Always read and save the vendor parameters first (as in the backup clip), and ask AM support before changing vendor settings on a client's machine.

### Engraving and scan quality (tools and main channels)

What the dump transcripts say:

- **Grayscale picture engraving on wood (2023-07-24, main):** the photo is prepared on an online image-prep site (the caption reads "image.r"): upload the picture, resize it, set 350 DPI (caption "TPI 350"), choose the wood material, set brightness 20, contrast 80 and gamma 1, then download as PNG and take it to the cabinet CO2 laser on a USB stick. In the clip the engraving and cut then line up with the artwork.

### CCD camera contour cutting with RD Mark Vision (main channel)

What the dump transcript says:

- **Contour cutting on printed boards with CCD camera, Ruida controller and Mark Vision (2022-11-06):** the cabinet laser has a camera with a ring light next to the head; a control on the motherboard changes the light brightness and colour to suit the material. The **RD Mark Vision** software (included free with a new AM machine, per the voice-over) shows the camera view of the bed. The design is imported at the same size as the printed sheet, with small **registration marks** (dots, or any shape) on each corner for the camera to find. Under Model set, Camera parameters and calibration, the camera is calibrated every time the registration mark or focal distance changes: cut a circle the size of the mark (10 mm in the clip), fit the green valid zone to it, enter the value as the graph length and click Calculate to set the size ratio. Then calibrate the offset: cut a cross on an empty part of the bed, line the camera's red line up with it (slow jog speed for small moves, without moving the material) and click Calibration to save the correction.
