# Wedding guest message frame how-to videos (AM training / support)

**Business idea:** laser-cut a wall frame for a wedding. Guests write a message or piece of advice for the couple on a small wooden heart and drop it through a slot at the top of the frame. A larger heart engraved with the couple's names and the wedding date sits in the middle. After the wedding the couple hangs the filled frame on a wall at home. The video builds it on a laser driven from **RDWorks**, the controller software used by AM's TruCUT CO2 lasers. This index collects the 2 AM main-channel uploads of this video that were not yet listed in another AM how-to index. Deduplicated by watch ID across all AM how-to index pages (channel indexes alone do not count as how-to coverage).

**Source:** local AM YouTube dump `youtube.jsonl` (main channel; refreshed 2026-10-18 00:25 SAST) and the Buythis product dump `buythis.jsonl`. First written 2026-10-18 18:59 SAST with 2 videos. **YouTube and Buythis were not crawled.** Titles and watch URLs below are taken from the dump as written. Videos were **not** watched. Both uploads have English transcripts in the dump, and the steps below are paraphrased from them only. Nothing was invented to fill gaps.

## English dump titles (2 unique watch URLs)

AM-channel uploads are framed as **AM training/support sources**. Each watch URL is a source.

### Full tutorial: design, laser-cut and assemble the frame

Paraphrased from the dump transcript of the full video (about 23 minutes):

**What the frame is made of**

- A solid **MDF back board**.
- A middle **MDF border** (the outline piece) that leaves a hollow space for the hearts, with an opening at the top to drop them in.
- A clear **perspex front** so the messages can be seen.
- A larger centre heart engraved with the couple's names and the wedding date, stuck to the back board.
- Many small MDF hearts (about 3 mm thick) for guests to write on.
- Bolts, washers and round end caps through matching holes in all three layers. Nothing is glued, so the couple can open the frame later, rearrange the hearts and bolt it closed again.

**Design (Photoshop and Illustrator)**

1. The presenter started the flat design in Photoshop. Each part (centre heart, small heart, border outline, solid back board) is dragged into Illustrator one at a time and turned into a vector with **Image Trace**, then **Expand**, right-click **Ungroup**, and delete the white background shapes. The video warns that leftover white areas make the laser think there are more shapes than there really are, so cutting and engraving go wrong.
2. The names and date are pasted in with the text tool and resized to fit the heart. The presenter notes it is easier to design everything in Illustrator from the start; if text does not come through later, right-click it and use **Create Outlines**, then export again.
3. Each part is exported separately as **DXF** (File, Export, Export As), deleting the other artwork from the page first so it is not exported too. The video stresses keeping the DXF export settings the same as shown on screen, otherwise the drawing imports into RDWorks at the wrong size or out of proportion.

**Laser setup (RDWorks)**

4. Import the parts into RDWorks. The frame outline comes in at about **310 × 430 mm**, and its size is left unchanged.
5. Copy the screw holes onto the back board so the holes go straight through the front, middle and back pieces and line up when assembled.
6. Set **cut** lines to their own colour (purple in the video) and change that layer from scan to **cut**. Settings read out in the video: **40 mm/s at 80% power** for cutting.
7. Leave the names and date on the black layer set to **scan (engrave)**: **330 mm/s at 45% power**. Group the engraved heart so it moves as one piece and centre it in line with the top holes.
8. Save the parts as separate files in cutting order: the perspex front (the same file can also cut the MDF back board), the MDF middle border (kept with the centre heart outline so it can act as a jig for placing that heart), and a sheet of small hearts.
9. For the small hearts, use the **array** tool. The video lays out 4 × 5 hearts with a 1 mm gap, roughly one A4 sheet of scrap MDF at a time, and cuts that file three times for enough hearts to fill the frame.
10. Save the whole layout as a project too, so any part can be recut later. Copy the files to a memory stick for the laser. The video notes that on most AM machines the speed and power can also be changed on the machine itself after the file is loaded, so a part can be recut without going back to the software.

**Assembly**

11. Lay the border on the back board and turn it until the holes line up. Use the cut-out border as a guide to place the centre heart, slide it down to the level of the screw holes and stick it with double-sided tape.
12. Push the bolts through the back, then add a **washer on each bolt**. The washer adds about half a millimetre, so the 3 mm hearts have about 3.5 mm of space and can slide down freely.
13. Slide on the border, then the clear perspex front, line up the holes, finger-tighten the round end caps and then tighten them properly.

**On the day:** put out a bowl of small hearts. Guests write a message, drop the heart through the top of the frame, and keep filling it until there is no space left. If hearts get stuck, give the frame a shake. The presenter suggests the same idea for birthdays and family occasions.

## Related SKUs (Buythis dump only; no prices, no stock)

Product names come from the Buythis product dump (`buythis.jsonl`; **not crawled**). Prices and stock are not stored on this index. The video does not name the laser it used. It runs RDWorks, the controller software of AM's TruCUT CO2 lasers, and the frame is about 310 × 430 mm, so these are TruCUT models whose bed sizes (from the product names) fit that piece. Check each product page before quoting.

## Notes

- Matching: main-channel dump uploads titled "A Lovely Business Idea To Offer Weddings", minus any video already in another AM how-to index page. Channel indexes listing the same watch URL do not count as how-to coverage.
- The speeds and powers are the ones read out in the video for its machine and materials. Test on scrap first, because results depend on the laser tube, lens and material thickness.
- Size the gap between the back and the front to the hearts you cut: the video uses about 3.5 mm of space for 3 mm hearts.
- Quote current specifications and prices from the product page, never from the videos.
- Live stock is never stored here; check the live stock feed for availability.
