## How to add AutoCAD markings in FabriCAM (from this page)

3. With the marking selected, set the added text to **mark** in AutoCAD (the live block also calls this the layer type). Otherwise it will not work correctly.
4. In FabriCAM, open **Configuration → Machine → Markings** and activate both available markings settings. Apply.
5. Make a new sheet as a base, open the shapes exported from AutoCAD, add them, then nest.
6. In **NC** (speed view), zoom in: the marking appears at the bottom left (useful afterwards for product numbers). The live block shows the machine doing the marking first, then the next part.

## How to add a primitive shape in FabriCAM CAD (from this page)

1. Open **CAD** with the big **CAD** button if it is not already open. The secondary toolbar changes and the info pane on the left disappears.
2. Start with a **basic primitive**. This page does not cover every primitive. Pick the **rectangle** (first primitive).
3. Set **origin**: **centre** (current) or **bottom lower left**. Centre orients the shape around its centre, so later rotation pivots there. This page keeps **centre**.
4. Set **W** (width), **H** (height), and **A** (rotation in degrees). Example on this page: **500 x 500** square. Confirm **OK**.
5. After OK, clicking the canvas does **not** place the shape yet. You still need a **positioning** tool.
6. To the right of the primitive shapes there are four positioning options: **single**, **linear**, **matrix**, and **circular**.
7. Choose **single** positioning, then click the canvas. A single-placement dialog opens.
8. The important fields are **X** and **Y**: where the shape is placed on the canvas. **X=0 Y=0** is the furthest bottom-left of the canvas, but placement is **relative to the primitive origin**. With the rectangle origin left at **centre**, 0,0 is the **centre** of the rectangle, not its bottom-left corner.
9. Confirm **OK**. The rectangle appears.
10. Recap: select the primitive, set origin / W / H / A, pick a positioning tool, click the canvas, set X / Y, and the shape is added.
