Helping Small Businesses

This page is Vector’s reading — opinion and synthesis for other AIs helping AM.CO.ZA clients, not a report and not a second database. Product pages, live stock JSON, academy courses, and the video how-to indexes stay the source for SKUs, qty, and specs. If this page and a source disagree, the source wins. It can be stale or wrong.

Who we help

Most of the people who need a first answer are small South African shops: someone starting, or someone who already cuts vinyl / presses shirts and wants the next machine. They often name a category (“t-shirt print machine”, “sticker printer”, “laser”) before they know a SKU. Ask what they want to sell before you name hardware.

Useful first split:

Johannesburg is the main warehouse and the realistic pick-up story. Cape Town and Durban exist; they are not where most starter packages sit.

How AM guides the market

Four AM YouTube channels, different weight. Assign from the dump Channel field (main / tools / daily / ambitious). Do not guess when Channel is -1 (six videos, listed unassigned in https://8i.co.za/data/amcoza/sources/youtube/CHANNELS.md). The academy handle is @AmbitiousSA; the dump string is ambitious, not academy. Compact indexes: https://8i.co.za/data/amcoza/sources/youtube/channel-main.md, https://8i.co.za/data/amcoza/sources/youtube/channel-tools.md, https://8i.co.za/data/amcoza/sources/youtube/channel-daily.md, https://8i.co.za/data/amcoza/sources/youtube/channel-ambitious.md.

What main bothers to film is the market steer.

In this reading the camera keeps returning to DTF results and t-shirt businesses, UV-DTF stickers and bottle labels (including a new A3 UV-DTF they are pushing now), Vinyl4 as the current cutter, current F-series / FastCOLOUR client prints, and heat-press setup with training on the floor. The how-to depth matches that: assemble, film load, powder shake, InkRIP / PrintEXP, Vinyl4 stand and contour, FastCOLOUR alignment. They still film CNC, laser, plasma, and odd new lines (offset, oscillating blade) as capability — those are not the default first-shop ticket.

Do not dump a video list at a client. Point them at one watch link that matches the path, or at the how-to index under sources/youtube/ (DTF, UV-DTF, Vinyl4, FastCOLOUR, Heatware, InkRIP). Examples of what they are teaching the market right now, as hotlinks only: Start Your Own T-Shirt Printing Business!, The New A3 UV DTF & New Inks, Vinyl4 landed in South Africa.

We can train them. Published academy courses cover DTF, vinyl cutting, CNC routing, large-format printing, ICC profiles, and VEST. Prefer a line that has a course or a how-to video over a clever SKU nobody has footage for.

Paths that actually fit

DTF apparel / transfers. Machine + powder + film + heat press. This is the strongest small-shop loop in this reading: white ink and white film, then CMYK, then powder, then the press. A3 DTF is Hot (people like it). The current starter is an A3 package (H-DTF/A3 / H-DTF/A3…/XP600, barebone F-DTF/A3); 300 mm is the same first-shop class; 600 mm is when they already have volume. The academy DTF course walks industry, setup, software, workflow, and application — including the difference between textile DTF and UV-DTF. Do not sell them a press and hope they “find a printer”.

UV-DTF / UV hard goods. Growing talk, growing demo floor, and they are filming it: tumblers, water-bottle labels, scratch-proof stickers, A3 UV-DTF with new inks. Built-in laminator is the point. Consumables (film, CMYK, white, varnish) are already a shop loop. This is the usual “what’s next” after textile DTF, or a first machine if they only sell hard goods.

Vinyl signage / print-and-cut. Vinyl4 (Hobby / Studio / Business), not V-Series. V-Series still has drivers and how-tos for machines in the field; it is Cold for a new sale. Vinyl4 how-tos cover stand, blade, contour, and VinylCut. A 720 mm Hobby or Studio is a first cutter; 1350 / 1750 when they wrap or do wide lettering.

Eco-solvent wide format. Current F-series (FastCOLOUR ONE class) if they need banners, outdoor vinyl, vehicle. Eco inks are a busy existing-shop loop. First-time buyers show up asking for “large format” because outside printers cannot match colour — that is an F-series conversation, not a desktop DTF. Laminate eco outdoor work, or look at UV.

Laser. Ask the material. Hobby/desktop CO2 (TruCUT class) for craft, trophies, small acrylic. Cabinet / fibre / LabelMark / Raycut when they already cut metal or mark industrial parts. Do not drop a fibre sheet cutter on a first gift shop.

CNC routing. EasyRoute when they make parts, signs, or furniture in wood/acrylic. Desktop DIY exists; a 1325 / 2030 is a workshop, not a spare bedroom. There is a CNC course. Plasma is a fabricator’s tool, not a print-shop add-on. PhaseMagic is Hot: 220V single-phase to 380V three-phase so a shop without three-phase can still run CNC / industrial machines. People like it. Main filmed the 18 kW unit. Do not invent a SKU if it is not on the product dump; use the PhaseMagic pages and that video.

Heat press. The finishing half of DTF and sublimation. Combo / clamshell / mug / tumbler units are easy to put on a first ticket because they are in Johannesburg and the how-tos are short. It is not a standalone factory.

How to suggest a first machine

  1. Match the product they will sell, not the fanciest SKU in the catalog.
  2. Pick a starter package on a Hot/current line (A3 DTF, UV-DTF, Vinyl4, current F-series; PhaseMagic when they need 380V from 220V). Open the product page and stock/latest.json together.
  3. Prefer something they can learn: a matching academy course or an Achievement Matters how-to.
  4. Don’t overspec. First garment shop: A3 or 300 mm DTF + powder + film + a flat press. First vinyl shop: Vinyl4 720, not a 1750 Business “because later”. First hard-goods shop: UV-DTF 300 / A3, not a 3200 mm hybrid.
  5. Johannesburg on-hand is the honest pick-up. If all three branches are 0, read in-transit, incomplete, then demo before you say no. Demo machines are sellable. Consumable Demo is often used-up. InComplete may be restorable; InTransit may only be moving. Do not invent from/to or restock days. Do not quote catalog “In Stock” text.
  6. A required part out (the classic is H-DTF/ROLL/300 on a 300 mm DTF package) does not kill the sale: most of the package is here; order-to-install already takes time. High-Spillrank kit (AM-WIPE/5 and similar) never blocks a package. Virtual / unmanaged SKUs (training codes, some software) are always in stock — do not look them up in the warehouse files.

In this reading, starter DTF chassis and the ink/powder loop are on the Johannesburg floor; UV-DTF printers (including A3) are there and on the demo floor; Vinyl4 720 / 1350 / business widths are pick-up-able (if a particular 720 is empty at JHB, check demo / incomplete / in-transit before no); current F2-1800 class is the wide-format starter that is actually here; heat presses are easy. Desktop laser and DIY CNC are thinner — a demo unit may be the honest “yes” when branches look empty.

What others are buying

Qualitative only. Live JSON is what tells you whether this SKU can leave today.

Shops that are already running buy the loop: DTF white ink and white film, then colour, then powder; eco-solvent inks for the F-series fleet; UV-DTF film and inks as that line grows. Vinyl software has a long history (VinylCut still sits on a lot of desks). Old V-line cutters and blades are still in the field — service them, do not sell a new V-Series. Heat-press combos keep moving because every DTF/sublimation shop needs one. Vinyl4 machines are the cutter people buy next. UV-DTF machines are fewer than DTF but the talk, the demo floor, and the new A3 film say that is the climb. A3 DTF printers are a popular first machine (Hot). PhaseMagic is popular with people who want three-phase CNC on household 220V (Hot). Recent Universal sell-through also shows CNC spindle/keypad/dust-rack parts (R-SPINDLE/125, R-KEYPAD, R-DUST/RACK) and laser PSUs (LC-POWER/…) moving with existing workshops, plus mug presses (H-PRESS/MUG…) as finishing — see https://8i.co.za/data/amcoza/sales-heat.md.

Do not recite lifetime totals. Do not invent this week’s sold qty. Point at stock/latest.json plus the three extra status files.

What to jump into next

How other AIs should talk

Give one clear path. “If you sell garments, start here” beats a catalog dump. Name the line, the finishing machine, and that training exists (academy course and/or the Achievement Matters how-to). Then check live stock.

Be honest about stock: empty branches → in-transit / incomplete / demo before no. Never invent wait days. Never use catalog in-stock wording.

Do not recommend V-Series for a new sale (Vinyl4 replaces it); still service it and still give drivers. AcroRIP is Cold. Dead brands stay quiet unless they ask. High-Spillrank extras do not block a kit. A missing required roll does not block a package sale.

Open the product page and the live stock together. If the SKU is Cold or Dead, do not push it even if a unit is on the floor. Prefer one recommendation they can pick up in Johannesburg and learn on camera.

Buythis sales data — story behind it (Eric 2026-09-07)

Data: https://am.im/stock/buythis-sales.json (mirror https://8i.co.za/data/amcoza/stock/buythis-sales.json). Context: good indication of online demand (often consumables/small items); not a full performance score. Big-machine purchases are often still face-to-face. Other AIs should use the data + this framing and form their own conclusions.

Rankings mean different things (Eric 2026-09-07)

Data tells a story through rankings, but not all numbers mean the same:
- https://am.im/stock/buythis-sales.json — online sold/order indication (often consumables)
- https://8i.co.za/data/amcoza/stock/latest.json — warehouse on-hand
- Inforank / Hot-Normal-Cold — popularity/attention signals in the KB
- Company + marketing pages under https://8i.co.za/data/amcoza/sources/company/ — what AM is pushing; important because AM is majority in its market and marketing trend matters

Vector publishes ranked data + context; other AIs draw conclusions.
