How to create a 3d channel word model in PrintUP (from this page)

  1. This Part 2 is Create Word Model in PrintUP, named as the second of a few ways to get 3D models into a project (the live block names the previous method as importing DXF graphics or NC). The live body names this option as Create Word Model, for making 3D letters without 3D experience.
  2. The live block says you do not need another programme, DXF files, or classic STL / OBJ 3D modelling: stay in PrintUP and make the letters there.
  3. From PrintUP Model (main menu) there is Create word model. That opens a dialogue with a preview, font, italic, thickness, the letter, and settings at the bottom.
  4. The live block says it currently works for one letter at a time. After adding one letter, add another. Font is selected from the list at the top. Italic and thickness only work for certain fonts (thickness is described as a bold-like change).
  5. Settings named on the live block: model size (overall size) and model height (example on the live block: 40, then set to 30 so it is a bit lower than the previous import). Chamfer distance and height are named as relevant to the other model / importing DXF as well, and the live block defers those two to another video.
  6. After OK, PrintUP generates the letter. The live block then sets chamfer distance and height to 0 so the letter is generated without that chamfer, then scales the model for a better view.
