How to remove the image key from CMYK in CorelDRAW (from this page)

  1. This Printing CMYK to CMY with Fake K part is about removing the K (black) channel from a CMYK image in CorelDRAW so a fake K can be added later.
  2. The previous video imported an image and converted it to CMYK. That conversion is required before K can be removed.
  3. Select the image (Object Manager highlight or click the image) with the Pick tool so transform handles show.
  4. With the image selected, open Effects → Adjust → Channel Mixer (the live block also says "fix" for Effects). Colour mode must be CMYK (not RGB or Lab). Set Output Channel to Black. The live block shows Cyan / Magenta / Yellow / Black sliders; Black starts at 100.
  5. Set Black to 0 (slider or type 0). If preview does not update, OK and repeat Effects → Adjust → Channel Mixer until Black is 0. Confirm with the colour picker on dark areas: K reads 0.
  6. If a filter is already set and the preview is buggy: duplicate the image, Effects → Adjust → Channel Mixer → Reset, OK, delete the duplicate, then repeat the zero-black process.
