  2. Open the properties of the graphic. Bleed and choke live on the third panel, colour management. Next to colour mode there is an option named choke. Opening it shows the white and varnish channels plus a few options.
  3. Double-click white (or select it and click edit). Three choices are named: choke, bleed, and none, plus a distance amount, plus a toggle that only applies the setting when the result is generated. The live block leaves that generated-only toggle off.
  4. Bleed pushes the selected channel out past the design edge. Choke pulls the selected channel in. The live example is on the spot white / white channel.
  5. Why choke white: on coloured or dark shirts the white can show as a millimetre of overspill at the edge. Choking white a little (live example 1 mm) pulls the white channel in so the edge stays clean without a white border.
  6. Why bleed varnish: varnish is the stronger layer. Bleeding varnish a little (live example 1 mm) takes varnish over the edge so the design edge is sealed and more durable. The live demo then exaggerates amounts (about 5 on one channel and 15 on the other) only so the preview is easy to see; those exaggerated amounts are not the normal job.
  7. Open the preview tab. Turn black on to see the edge. White preview shows the channel pulled in (no white border). Varnish preview shows the channel pushed out (edge sealed).
