How to use Slice and Save (from this page)

  1. This Part 1 is Slice and Save in PrintUP, first of the Finalizing Your Channel Letter Designs mini-series (body Mini-Series points at already-ingested Designs INDEX WP 28632). Finalising tools sit on the toolbar: slice, preview, and save. This page covers slice and save first.
  2. Saving or previewing needs a Gcode for the design; PrintUP generates that Gcode.
  3. The live block demos selecting an AM.co.za logo, then Preference at grid: about 1 mm high and grid density 3.
  4. A perspex-front step is added in the demo (step height about 8, skinny 0.2 step; thickness left the same) so a topping can sit in front.
  5. Click Slice; Preview and Save become available only after a Gcode exists. Slice generates the Gcode for the design.
  6. Save is straightforward: navigate to a folder, give the file a name, format is Gcode, click save. The live block says the export completes successfully.
  7. Copy the .gcode file to a flash drive and take it to the printing machine.
